Driveway Dress Up – Ideas for Increasing Curb Appeal

December 24, 2013

Driveway Dress Up - Ideas for Increasing Curb AppealDriveways can be much more than a place to park our cars and plant our trash cans. While most of us have them, only few of us know how to set one driveway apart from another. In this blog post, we introduce four ideas for increasing your home’s curb appeal and general aesthetic feel.

They are:

1. Anchored decor:  Creating a semi-permanent fixture for your driveway can create a quality and classy focal point for your home. If you driveway is large, consider a fountain like fixture or perhaps brick or stone pillars at the entry way for added curb appeal.

2. Strategic horticulture design: The use of various plants has been an effective means of beautification for nearly all of eternity. When working to increase your curb appeal, don’t forget to include stunning horticultural features as they will give a natural sense of beauty to your driveway. Consider lining your driveway with small trees or with a flower bed.

3. Brick borders: Driveways may be commonly made from concrete, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. Consider adding texture to your concrete by using contrasting bricks as a border. This is a simple way to add character and curb appeal to your space.

4. Cobblestone: If you are creating your driveway from scratch, cobblestone is a classy way to go. While the levels may be somewhat uneven in comparison to a typical concrete driveway, the look is timeless and chic. A cobblestone driveway is very complimentary to homes featuring subtle cobblestone or brick like features.

While these ideas are only a handful of the ways you can dress up your driveway, they are sure to help your creative juices start flowing. Be sure to let us know how you decide to customize your curb appeal, we love seeing you thrive in your home!
